Due to dense fog, San Diego International Airport experienced over 200 flight delays and cancellations on Friday, impacting travelers and causing frustration.
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego International Airport experienced more than 200 delays and cancellations Friday because of dense fog , officials said.By 8:20 a.m. Friday, more than 200 flights were canceled or delayed, according to the airport's website.The unofficial flight tracking website FlightAware showed 259 delays and 38 cancellations at San Diego's airport.A dense fog advisory was issued by the National Weather Service for San Diego County's coastal areas until 10 a.m. Friday.
ABC 10News spoke to frustrated fliers about the delays. 'I come every holiday. I come over the summer, and I've never seen it like this,' says Carly Belin, who was in town visiting family. David Martel was visiting America's Finest City for the first time from Canada. He says he's just hoping that things pan out. 'Maybe tired, but will not change anything about getting frustrated. Waiting for the best,' Martel says. For Terri, who grew up in Clairemont but currently lives in Sweden, she says her delay may be a good thing. 'When I got up to the counter at Alaska, they were able to book me on a later flight that actually is able to make my connection in San Francisco due to a delay up there. So with a bit of luck, it will work, and I will be home Saturday evening,' she says.Belin is also patiently waiting. 'I mean, it's frustrating, but there's not really much that I can do other than wait it out and hope that they get it figured out, but I know it's not in their control either... but what can you do?' she said.Copyright 2025, City News Service, Inc
