The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has directed public and private golf courses in the National Capital Region to implement water conservation measures amid the El Niño phenomenon and the decreasing water level at Angat Dam."We need all sectors of society to contribute to conserve our water supply," the DENR said in a bulletin addressed to the general managers of the golf coursers.
For irrigating greens and fairways, golf courses are strongly encouraged to only utilize recycled water, reduce groundwater withdrawal and cease, as much as possible, the use of piped water coming from your water service provider. Recycle water coming from the clubhouse specifically those from sink and shower use to augment your recycled water supply. Postpone any swimming pool maintenance work that will require draining and replacing water in the pool.
