, titled “Harry Nuriev: Denim.” As the name implies, it centers around the classic Americana material. But instead of showing it through the traditional form of a pant or jacket, Nuriev does so through domestic objects that are anythingtraditional: a mirror, a dining table, a sofa, even a vanity table.
All of the furniture in “Denim” is both imaginative and functional—albeit sometimes a little absurd. With the pieces he’s designed, Nuriev has assembled a home gym of sorts, complete with jean hand weights, a weight bench, a pull-up bar, and a yoga mat. Then, there’s a living room with a DJ booth that, yes, plays music. That’s not the only “modern need” Nuriev’s designs cater to.
Nuriev also pays homage to denim’s most familiar form, with some of his pieces showing intentional rips or distressed details. Then there are his shelves—which aren’t really shelves at all. Instead, they’re giant pockets you hang on your walls and stuff with, well,Many pieces are intentionally distressed to echo ripped pairs of jeans, including these mirrors.
