The first involves fraud or misrepresentation during the naturalization process. An individual may be denaturalized if they deliberately lied or concealed a material fact that influenced the government’s decision to grant citizenship. The second ground is illegal procurement of naturalization. This applies when an individual was not legally eligible for citizenship at the time it was granted because they failed to meet statutory requirements, such as lawful permanent residence, sufficient physical presence, good moral character, or attachment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution.“American citizenship is a sacred privilege — not a cheap status that can be obtained dishonestly. “These actions reflect this Department of Justice's ongoing efforts to strip citizenship from people who conceal crimes or defraud the American people during the immigration process.”that denaturalization cases have remained rare despite recent political rhetoric—with an average of around 11 cases a year, according to the Brennan Center for Justice., ours is different: The Courageous Center—it's not"both sides," it's sharp, challenging and alive with ideas.
