Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an emotional story that has found lots of success, but the anime did something far better than the manga could.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The third season finale of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba culminated in a shocking plot twist. While the series is a very faithful adaptation compared to the manga, the Season 3 finale made an important change. This results in a much more emotional and impactful revelation in the latter half of the episode.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was created by Koyoharu Gotouge and began serializing in 2016. The manga concluded in 2020, but it is currently also an anime series produced by Ufotable. The series has had major success, being one of the best-selling manga series of all time and having theatrical releases for season debuts, as well as a full-length animated feature adaptation of the Mugen Train arc.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Makes Nezuko's Sacrifice More Poignant In the finale of the Swordsmith Village Arc, it is revealed that Nezuko can withstand the sun despite being part-demon. However, the build-up to that series-changing ability is far more intense than in the manga. Tanjiro is having difficulty choosing between knowingly letting his sister die or saving villagers from an Upper-Rank demon.

In the final episode of Demon Slayer's third season, Nezuko kicks Tanjiro and a montage of their journey to this point begins. It is interlaced with the young demon slayer's arching fall as he realizes what his sister has done. The fall is very lengthy, making time slow down for Tanjiro, and forcing the audience to sit through one of the most startling moments of the series. This drawn-out sequence allows viewers to really feel the weight of what Nezuko has done.

Considering Tanjiro's entire goal is to make Nezuko human again, this directly conflicts with his goal - but it's one of the most emotional sequences in the show up to this point. These two siblings have protected each other and gone through insane amounts of pain to save others from demons and remain a family. The music only adds to the intensity and heartbreaking moment. This creates a perfect sequence that far surpasses the manga and proves some of the medium's limitations.
