Democrats will instead travel to an unspecified part of the southern border in March to meet with"community and government officials on the ground." The Republican hearing next week will feature two elected community leaders and the regional hospital CEO. GOP members are also expected to receive private briefings by federal border officials outside the hearing, as is standard for congressional visits to the border.

"How did the Democrat staffer find out about the trip if they weren’t consulted?” the GOP aide wrote in a text message.
