Chairman Bernie Sanders holding a meeting with Senate Budget Committee Democrats in the Mansfield Room at the U.S. Capitol building on June 16, 2021 in Washington, DC. The Majority Leader and Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee are meeting to discuss how to move forward with the Biden Administrations budget proposal. The plan, being devised by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Budget Committee Chair Sen. Bernie Sanders , would reportedly feature key elements of Biden’s $1.
But the plan is also said to include longtime Democratic priorities like lowering the Medicare eligibility age to 60. It would also include an expansion of the Child Tax Credit and universal paid family leave and pre-kindergarten. The development comes as a bipartisan group of senators is gaining steam with a trimmed down infrastructure plan that excludes many of Biden’s proposals.
