Using data and analysis from research partner the Brennan Center for Justice, the report highlights four main elements of"the plot to destroy" U.S. democracy: gerrymandering, voter suppression, election sabotage, and voter intimidation. This year"is already shaping up to be another assault on voting rights as state legislatures in 18 states carried over at least 152 restrictive bills from the 2021 legislative sessions," the paper notes.
Referring to the attempt by Trump supporters to subvert the 2020 presidential election on the baseless claim that it was"stolen," NUL asserts that"the Stop the Steal movement isn't a slogan or a fad. Instead, it's a calculated push to delegitimize the voices and votes of people of color across this country."
