Although there is no cure, doctors are always looking for early signs of dementia as an early diagnosis can be beneficial for patients and their families.

Experts have identified a warning sign of dementia that can be spotted by the layout of a person's home.

Even in the early stages of dementia, individuals may forget the layout of their home and become confused. Patients lose short-term and long-term memory differently, so some may remember the home they grew up in rather than the one they've lived in as adults, leading to confusion. Spotting the disease early can sometimes slow down its progress by starting treatment as soon as possible. The Alzheimer Society has also highlighted one sign which can effect everyday memory that you might be able to spot at home.

While anyone can temporarily lose their wallet or keys, a person with dementia might put things in strange places - like an iron in the freezer or a wristwatch in the sugar bowl. People might get lost on their own street, or forget how to do simple tasks like cooking or getting dressed - which could be a sign of dementia.
