Deltona pitcher Katie McCaw was nearly perfect Thursday, denying Clay_Athletics softball in the FHSAA state semifinals.
On the other side, Clay junior Gabrielle Ellis also pitched the entire game. She struck out three Deltona hitters and issued only one walk.
With one out, the Wolves put two on with a hit-by-pitch and double. Then came Strempel’s two-run double followed by run-scoring singles by seniors Kyleen Martell and Anna Marie Haverty later in the inning.
