Saturday night’s Top-10 contest was televised on ESPN2. Fans packed the stands and stood four deep around the outside of the fence to see some of the best high school players in the country ply their trades down the Jersey shore. “We always try to come down to the boardwalk for a day and play some mini-golf or something,” said Miller. “I love this place.”
IMG flew into town on Thursday and came to Ocean City to check out the facility. On Friday, they took the ride to Delran to practice and see Miller’s old school. “I’m ready to focus on ball,” said Stone. “I’ve been focused on for a minute now. Coach said you better not have a bad game if you’re doing this at halftime. I said I’d make him look like Nick Saban for letting me do this.”
Miller almost left with a shocking loss as with the game seemingly in IMG’s control, St. Joseph’s scored on a blocked punt return and a fumble recovery to make it a three-point game.
