Dell announced a major revamp of its product line at CES 2025, simplifying it to nine types across three categories: Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max. The company aims to democratize AI with both hardware and software, while catering to commercial customers with a streamlined offering. The move sees the end of the XPS brand, replaced by the Dell Premium tier. Dell also showcased new laptops powered by both Intel and AMD processors, including models with Tandem OLED displays and Copilot+ capabilities.
The year got off to a big start for Dell at CES 2025 with a slew of major announcements. I got the chance to have hands-on previews of many of Dell ’s new products in December. Based on my experiences and conversations with Dell executives since then, it’s quite clear that Dell is on a path to democratizing AI with both hardware and software efforts while also simplifying its product offerings.
Dell is also doing something really exciting with the new Pro and Pro Max laptops by including a modular mainboard with a new modular USB-C port. This new port is designed to be more easily replaceable and not require an entire new mainboard when the charging port is damaged from heavy use. Dell says this new USB-C port is also four times more durable than before, which will help keep these systems in service longer, reducing waste and energy consumption.
Dell is not holding back with this new desktop, offering up to 64GB of RAM, 8TB of storage, 360mm or 240mm liquid cooling, up to a 1500-watt Platinum-rated PSU and a multitude of GPU configurations with the latest Nvidia graphics. Speaking of which, there will be more configuration options and graphics choices later in the year, including a less expensive entry configuration.
