The Spurs won 103-90.CLEVELAND — Road trips early in Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray’s career represented a chance for him to learn from a master.Always taking a seat on the team plane next to Manu Ginobili, Murray soaked up all the wisdom he could from the Spurs icon.
Although he said he never doubted it would happen, Brooklyn guard Patty Mills still became excited when he learned Ginobili in his first year of eligibility had taken a huge step toward gaining basketball immortality in Springfield, Mass. Mills, who played 10 seasons with the Spurs before signing with the Nets last summer, was a member of the 2014 title team. Ginobili also collected rings in 2003, 2005 and 2007.
The Class of 2022 will be announced at the NCAA Final Four in April. Induction is set for Sept. 9-10 in Springfield. Murray was asked to describe the most important thing he learned from Ginobili, who also won a EuroLeague title and led Argentina to an Olympic gold medal in 2004.
