First lady Jill Biden remained defiant amid calls for President Biden to step down as the Democratic nominee, insisting in an interview Monday that he will stay in the race.

Mrs. Biden said the Biden family “will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president.” Mrs. Biden’s hard-line stance comes after a torrent of criticism directed at her for not forcing her 81-year-old husband to step aside as the Democratic nominee after the debate. In the Vogue interview, Mrs. Biden said she directs the president to take action “in so many different areas.”
