Red Raiders set school record for NCAA Tournament games with 97 points
About seven minutes into Friday’s game at Viejas Arena, a Montana State player dribbled the ball in front of the Texas Tech bench, right in front of where Red Raiders coach Ron Adams was standing.Score at the time: Texas Tech 26, Montana State 7.And that’s why what happened Friday was so unusual.
“I’m proud of my team,” Sprinkle said. “We obviously didn’t play our best today and almost 100 percent of that has to do with Texas Tech. … That’s the best defensive team in the country for a reason. They make every catch hard. They contest not only every shot, they contest every pass, and they made it really difficult for us.”
Bryson Williams and Terrance Shannon Jr. scored 20 points each to lead six Tech players in double figures. For Williams, it was his third game and third win at Viejas; he was part of Fresno State victories against San Diego State in 2017 and 2018 when he scored 18 and 11 points, respectively. The Fresno native said he played in front of family members for the first time in more than two years.
