A dentist accused of hosting a party last year mocking the Juneteenth holiday is now filing a defamation lawsuit.

Dr. Nicholas Nicosia is filing a defamation lawsuit against Monroe County Legislator Rachel Barnhart and attorney Nate McMurray, after he was accused of hosting a racist party at his home in June 2022.

Rochester, N.Y. — Dr. Nicholas Nicosia, a local dentist accused of hosting a party last year mocking the Juneteenth holiday, is now filing a defamation lawsuit.In August 2022, a Rochester firefighter claimed his captain brought him to the party, which featured cut-outs of former president Donald Trump, Juneteenth flags and buckets of Kentucky fried chicken.He also said a woman at the party impersonated Monroe County Legislator Rachel Barnhart, while the crowd made sexually explicit comments. Nicosia is now suing Barnhart and Nate McMurray, the attorney representing the firefighter involved. He claims the pair defamed him, calling it a hate crime hoax against him. Nicosia and his wife previously defended the party, calling the backlash "cancel culture."
