Dobie, Deer Park, Memorial and Channelview all keep their seasons alive for at least one more week
Deer Park head coach Chris Rupp greets Dillon Mancha as he rounds third base, following the two-run homer he clouted during a seven-run sixth inning Friday afternoon.SOUTH HOUSTON - Home runs by Dillon Mancha and Anthony Ramirez during a seven-run sixth inning enabled the state playoff-bound Deer Park High School baseball team to finish the regular season one inning early as the Deer pinned an 18-3 district defeat on South Houston at Trojans Field Friday afternoon.
Deer Park was two outs away from ending the contest in five innings, but South Houston pieced together a double off the left field fence and a run-scoring single, before a shortstop's error made it 11-3. A Ronald Rosario single to left turned into a trip to third when the Trojans left fielder allowed the ball to roll under his glove. Erik Aguirre doubled him home and that's when Ramirez smacked his roundtripper for a 16-3 lead.
In the fourth inning, Dillon Lester clouted a bases-loaded double, scoring three runs to up the lead to 7-1. Deer Park also batted around in the fifth. Porter and Aguirre had RBIs in that frame.
