A secret 1977 workbook, created for the US Army by the Monroe Institute and funded by the CIA, details a five-step method to instantly enhance physical strength and speed, along with training in remote viewing and other mental skills for intelligence operatives.
The declassified 1977 "Gateway" workbook, produced by the Monroe Institute of Applied Sciences for the US Army's Intelligence and Security Command ( INSCOM), details a secret, CIA -funded program aimed at enhancing human capabilities for intelligence operations.
The 21-page manual, part of broader Cold War-era research into consciousness expansion, outlines methods for achieving extraordinary physical and mental feats. A central five-step process promises to provide immediate boosts in strength, speed, and coordination by combining focused intent, controlled breathing, and a visualization of "strong energy of red.
" The training is predicated on first completing the foundational Gateway Program, which uses the institute's Hemi-Sync audio technology to synchronize brain hemispheres and induce a highly focused yet relaxed state. The workbook also covers diverse skills such as pain reduction through mental repetition of the number 55515, achieving hyper-awareness, commanding sleep, and self-healing through visualization. Crucially, it warns that unsupervised application by untrained individuals may lead to "undesirable and uncontrolled effects.
" A significant section is dedicated to remote viewing, training operatives to perceive distant events, people, and objects. This skill was a core component of the CIA's Stargate Project, where alleged psychic spies claimed successes like locating hostages, tracking drug traffickers, observing Soviet naval assets, and even viewing purported non-human lunar entities. The manual instructs that with practice, remote viewing becomes an "excellent method" for gathering intelligence and telepathic communication.
The Monroe Institute, a private organization still active today, provided this workbook to military and intelligence agencies, embedding its techniques within highly classified experiments from approximately 1972 to 1995. The document represents a systematic attempt to weaponize consciousness, offering a structured regimen to transform mental focus into tangible operational advantages for spies and special operations teams during the Cold War
