At the weekend, nine SANDF members were killed in a fierce clash with the M23 rebels group in Goma, eastern DRC.

The South African National Defence Force has confirmed that four soldiers have been killed during a clash with the M23 rebels group in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo .

Dlamini said the M23 rebels launched several a mortar bomb in the direction of Goma Airport, which landed in the SANDF base, and this resulted in the SANDF losing three members. Dlamini said the defence force remains fully committed to its peacekeeping responsibilities under the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo and SADC Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo .
