Hideo Kojima's next game is just a few months away.
Death Stranding 2 is easily one of the most anticipated video games of 2025, with the follow-up to the critically acclaimed, Hideo Kojima-directed game set to have a big, all-star cast and a plot sure to confuse and delight fans.
In an absurdly long announcement trailer, Kojima has finally announced a release date for the sequel.Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released on PS5 on June 26, 2025. The announcement was made via a 10 minute-long trailer that was edited by Hideo Kojima himself and posted to Twitter and YouTube. Kojima said on Twitter that the trailer features 'hints and puzzle pieces throughout,' which is likely to send fans into a frenzy scrubbing through the trailer frame-by-frame.Preorders for Death Stranding 2 will be opened on March 17, 2025 on the PlayStation Store, and will be available in three editions: standard, digital deluxe, and a collector's edition. The digital deluxe edition, which costs $79.99, includes the game, three pieces of in-game legwear, an early unlock for a machine gun, as well as three patches and early access starting on June 24.The collector's edition costs $229.99 USD, coming with all of the digital deluxe edition items in addition to a physical Magellan Man statue, art cards, a special box, a letter from Hideo Kojima, and a Dollman figurine.Death Stranding 2 will feature the return of Norman Reedus, reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, as well as Lea Seydoux and Troy Baker, each reprising their roles from the first game. It will also feature newcomers Elle Fanning, Shioli Kustuna, and Luca Marinelli, as well as the likenesses of directors George Miller and Faith Akin.At the time of writing, Death Stranding 2 will be exclusive to PS5, much like its predecessor was initially exclusive to PS4. The first Death Stranding game was ultimately released on PC, iOS, and Xbox Series X|S, with 505 Games taking over publishing from Sony for those versions. Sony will be publishing Death Stranding 2 on PS5.
