“Jana was one of those rare individuals who could walk into a room and people would just be drawn to her because of her warmth and charisma,” Deidre Downs Gunn, the former Miss Alabama 2004 and Miss America 2005, said.
Tributes poured in over the weekend following the death of Miss Alabama 2000 Jana Sanderson McEachern.
Her funeral will take place today in Glencoe, in Etowah County. Her cause of death is not publicly known.the former Miss Alabama 2004 and Miss America 2005, released a statement calling McEachern’s death “a deep loss for all who knew her, including her Miss Alabama family.” “She bravely took on cancer with grace and dignity that only Jana could,” the business stated. “Each week of her infusion she would make care packages for all of her infusion nurses. She did so even on the weeks where it became a struggle to stand or feel her fingers because of the effects of the chemotherapy. She would pick out special gifts for each nurse and spend hours wrapping each one. She never once complained about the lasting effects of her neuropathy caused by this.
Other tributes dealt with McEachern as a constant friend and presence in many lives. Other friends on social media echoed the comments of Shannon Hunter, who said she was “in total absolute shock.”
