According to U.S. Figure Skating and reports from various sources, the passenger jet, operating as American Eagle Flight 518, was carrying a group of skaters, coaches, and family members who had recently attended a national development camp in Wichita, Kansas.
Among the victims were Spencer Lane, a talented figure skater from the Skating Club of Boston, and his mother, Christine Lane, who accompanied him on the return journey. Jinna Han, another promising skater from the same club, also perished in the crash, along with her mother, Jin Han. The Skating Club of Boston, known for its close-knit community, expressed profound grief over the loss of these young athletes and their families.Further casualties included Evgenia Shishkova, a former world champion figure skater and coach at the Skating Club of Boston, and her colleague, Vadim Naumov, another former world champion and coach who had partnered with Shishkova in the past. Naumov and Shishkova share a son, Maxim Naumov, who is also a skater training in Norwood. Fortunately, Maxim had returned home earlier on a separate flight. NBC News confirmed that Samuel Lilley, a 28-year-old First Officer, was serving on the ill-fated American Eagle flight. Lilley's father, who is also a pilot, revealed his son's engagement and his training journey, which began in 2019. The Communication Workers of America and UA Steamfitters Local 602 confirmed the presence of their members on board the flight, with the names of the deceased still pending release.
