Deadly Landslide in Chongqing Leaves Dozens Missing, Over 1,100 Evacuated

A catastrophic landslide in southwestern China's Chongqing has resulted in deaths and dozens of people missing. More than 1,100 residents have been evacuated, and rescue operations are ongoing to search for trapped victims amidst the wreckage of buried residential buildings.

A devastating landslide occurred on Friday morning in Pengshui County, on the outskirts of Chongqing municipality, China. Massive amounts of rocks and soil cascaded down a slope, burying over 10 residential buildings and leaving many people dead or missing.

State broadcaster CCTV reported the incident, which forced the evacuation of more than 1,100 people. Rescue efforts are currently underway, with heavy machinery being used to clear the rubble in search of trapped victims. The cause of the landslide is still under investigation
