The Walking Dead: Dead City becomes the biggest cable drama debut of 2023, but its live viewership falls far below that of the original series.
The Walking Dead: Dead City debuts as the biggest cable drama of 2023, but falls short of the millions of live viewers its flagship used to have. Once the most-watched cable drama in terms of live viewers, The Walking Dead touted 17.29 million live viewers during its season 5 premiere, the best-performing episode of the franchise. However, The Walking Dead's viewership has dwindled since then, with the series finale drawing just 2.27 million live viewers last year.
We are thrilled so many viewers joined Maggie and Negan in the streets of Manhattan for the first episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City. The thrill ride keeps rolling from here, and we can’t wait for the fans to see all the twists and turns in the city that never sleeps. Turns out walkers don’t sleep, either.
