Connell previously played another version of Night Nurse in a 2021 episode of Doom Patrol. Of the Dead Boy Detectives cast and characters, the Night Nurse is portrayed as strictly driven by simply following the rules.
After failing to convince Jenny to give up Crystal’s location, Night Nurse uses telekinetic powers to choke her. Once she has forced Jenny to reveal where Crystal is, the Night Nurse removes Jenny’s memory. Later, she showcases her ability to make people relive past traumatic events. The Night Nurse reveals how Charles died by mentally dragging him into a body of water as he was succumbing to hypothermia and internal bleeding after being attacked by his “friends.
Despite her supposed middle management role, Night Nurse's extreme powers point to the Lost & Found Department's significance as a key function of the Afterlife. It's shown in the season finale when the Night Nurse is convinced she finally has the upper hand on Edwin and Charles and brings along her superior to ensure their passing on.
