David “Trugoy the Dove” Jolicoeur, one of the founding members of iconic rap trio De La Soul, has died. He was 54.

David "Trugoy the Dove" Jolicoeur, one-third of the iconic rap group De La Soul, has died at the age of 54.No other details, including a cause of death, have yet been released, however, TMZ reports that his death appears to be from natural causes and that Jolicoeur had been battling an undisclosed illness.
Jolicoeur was a founding member of De La Soul, praised as one of the most innovative and artistic rap groups of the ‘90s, known for hit songs like "Me, Myself and I," "Breakadawn," and "Stakes is High." Their positive and socially conscious lyrics were known for addressing social and political issues of the day, while the group’s production incorporated elements from genres like jazz, soul and even psychedelic rock.
Hailing from Long Island, the trio, made up of Jolicoeur, Kelvin "Posdnous" Mercer, and Vincent "Maseo" Mason, had recently announced that after years of rights battles, that their entire catalog would be available to stream everywhere on March 3.
