The 32-year-old's current deal expires next year and after what was a shaky start to life under Erik ten Hag, the shot-stopper has earned the respect of the Dutchman, with the ex-Ajax Amsterdam boss keen to keep him at Old Trafford. De Gea is currently raking in £375 000 a week, making him the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football, and is reportedly aware that if he wishes to continue with the record Premier League champions, he will have to take a pay cut, but is now said to feel he is not being compensated well enough in United's latest contract offer.
The same report claims that while the Spain international is relatively pleased with the club's proposal, he is not persuaded by the offer and believes it does not do justice to his performances on the pitch, with the former Atletico Madrid man receiving the Premier League Save of the Month honour in February.
