The DC Universe is expanding under James Gunn 's leadership with new projects following the success of the 2025 film Superman . David Corenswet's portrayal kicked off the DCU 's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters slate, which is now branching into additional films and series.
In a recent interview, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran addressed the future of the Justice League within this new continuity, acknowledging that the team is an eventual goal while emphasizing current announced projects. Safran listed upcoming titles including Supergirl, the HBO series Lanterns, the film Clayface, Man of Tomorrow, The Batman - Part II, and The Brave and the Bold, which will integrate Batman into the DCU.
He also confirmed the Superman TV show spinoff centered on Jimmy Olsen is moving forward, and revealed a Gorilla Grodd series for HBO that is set to begin production this year-marking the first time the Grodd project has been specified as an HBO property.
