Despite David Corenswet's Clark Kent only being set to debut in 2025's Superman: Legacy, the DC Universe's new Superman was already beaten.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT DC's new Man of Steel was already beaten four years before Superman: Legacy reboots the character. James Gunn, DC's new creative chief, is writing and directing Superman: Legacy, which will tell the tale of a younger Clark Kent than the one in the DCEU.
Not much is known of the movie's story at this point, but some details have come through. Superman: Legacy will see Clark Kent start working as a reporter on The Daily Planet, meeting Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. The movie will focus on the dual life that Clark leads as both the Smallville farm boy turned Metropolis reporter and the DC Universe's greatest hero, Superman.
Bloodsport Hospitalized Superman - And It's Still DCU Canon Before becoming DC Studios' creative chief, Gunn directed The Suicide Squad for the studio. While the movie was rooted in the DCEU, Gunn has confirmed that John Cena's Peacemaker, who debuted in the film, will be back in the new DC Universe for the second season of his Max series.
Based on the characters that Gunn is bringing back, The Suicide Squad will continue as canon to the new DC Universe, and a line from the movie explains how Corenswet's Superman was beaten before his movie debut. The movie revealed that the reason why Idris Elba's Bloodsport was in prison was that he had shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet, putting him in the ICU.
Why Superman's Loss Isn't As Bad As You Think Superman getting shot by Bloodsport and being sent to hospital before ever debuting is not necessarily bad. It actually helps humanize the character, making a Clark Kent trait even stronger. While the DCEU suffered complaints that Cavill's Superman was more of a god than a man, Corenswet's Superman can go in the other direction.
