The cast of Creature Commandos has been revealed, implying that James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU will only be a soft reboot of the DCEU.

The main cast of Creature Commandos has been revealed, implying that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe will be a far softer reboot than many believe. The old DCEU will end with the upcoming The Flash film, leading into the new DCU, which will include new versions of characters like Batman and Superman.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The recently-revealed cast of Creature Commandos will include Weasel, John Economos, and Amanda Waller, each retaining their actors from the DCEU. The film will also introduce Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., further implying that Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is still canon to the DC Universe.

Rick Flag Jr. died in The Suicide Squad, but rather than create a new version of the character in Creature Commandos, Gunn is introducing his father. Grillo’s Rick Flagg Sr. will likely fill a similar role to Flag Jr. in both Suicide Squad films, serving as an on-site handler for Waller’s latest black ops team.

The New DCU Only Changes Batman & Superman The upcoming film The Flash was supposedly always set to restart Superman and Batman’s roles in the DCEU. According to Gunn, Henry Cavill was not fired from the franchise but was instead simply never re-hired, implying that Sasha Calle’s Supergirl would be his replacement in the previous DCEU plan .

The new DC Universe appears to be adhering to this original plan for the most part, with the only major change being new actors playing Batman and Superman instead of replacing them with Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle, respectively.
