DCEU handled Civil War's Avengers problem easily.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Three years after disbanding in Captain America: Civil War, the MCU Avengers finally reformed, but the DCEU managed to solve their problem much sooner in 2016's Suicide Squad. Despite being heralded as the MCU's greatest superhero team, the members of the Avengers often clashed in ideologies, personalities, and methods, culminating in their dramatic disbanding in Civil War.
Suicide Squad released as the third film in Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe, marking a divergence from stories focusing on high-profile heroes Superman and Batman. The 2016 film saw a team of villains brought together under the watchful eye of Viola Davis' Amanda Waller to battle a greater threat than any of them posed.
A deal along these kinds of lines could have been beneficial to the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, because, as Natasha Romanoff put it, "if we have one hand on the wheel, we can still steer." While the Avengers did come back together three years later in Avengers: Endgame, this wasn't because the problem had been solved, but only because they had bigger things to deal with, such as taking down the Mad Titan Thanos.
How Thunderbolts Can Create The MCU's Suicide Squad Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts is scheduled for release on December 20, 2024, and is expected to feature the titular team of reformed villains and antiheroes being formed by the United States government and the CIA. Thunderbolts could take some plot points from Suicide Squad, making the team a covert operation, not directly associated with the government to protect from liability.
