KUALA LUMPUR: Almost 2,000 officers from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) were deployed to various parts of the city Wednesday (March 18) to monitor activities on the ground following the enforcement of the movement control order.

As of Wednesday, no untoward incident was reported, according to DBKL corporate planning director Khairul Azmir Ahmad.

"Everything went smoothly with some exceptions of people found to be operating roadside stalls and food trucks, which are not allowed. "Officers politely told the traders to dismantle their stores and move out of the area. There was no fuss at all," he said. Following the directive, which took effect Wednesday, all business activity in Kuala Lumpur including malls, entertainment outlets, roadside stalls, food trucks, pasar malam and bazaria are not allowed to operate.

Exceptions are given to hypermarkets, supermarkets inside a building, clinics, pharmacies, sundry suppliers and shops.
