Inspectors issued a notice of violation to the Mint Plaza building, which has 90 days to get back in compliance
The the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection says the Mint Plaza building housing $700-a-month twin bed pods installed them without a change-of-use permit.
"The code violations have nothing to do with the pods themselves," Stallworth told The Examiner in a statement on Friday."They are related to changing the use from a bank to a living space – both of which are allowed uses for the building – without filing a permit with The City first.
Lewis wrote that he"was just trying to stay within the city of San Francisco without paying $4,000 a month or getting stabbed." Though the national perception of safety in The City has steadily declined, San Francisco has a lower violent crime rate than most of its peer jurisdictions.
