EXCLUSIVE: Davina McCall on overcoming her ‘darkest days’: ‘I drank to forget’
Davina McCall has recalled a year when she felt so incredibly lonely she couldn’t wait for Christmas Day to be over.
"I just wanted Christmas day to disappear - if I drank enough I could just forget it’s Christmas Day and then the next day I could start again. It was horrible. But before fame she faced serious hardship with drink and drugs and an addiction to heroin. Davina admitted that her issues with drugs in her 20s stemmed from her mum being an addict too, but beating her own demons helped the presenter become a "stronger person".
