Njoku and Watson only have about 47 touchdowns to go to catch up to the two future Pro Football Hall of Famers, but the signs are there that the two can be dynamite together.

Clowney in concussion protocol; John Johnson III suffers thigh contusion in his best game of the season: Browns takeaways

Watson has the arm talent to get Njoku the ball — often where only he can go up and get it — and Njoku is displaying the big-play ability of premier tight ends like Kelce, George Kittle and Mark Andrews. He’s already playing at a Pro Bowl clip this season, including his excellent blocking, and he’s only played two games with Watson. According to Pro Football Focus, he’s the No. 2 ranked tight end in the NFL with a 79.4 grade, only behind Kelce .

“I think we’re definitely getting there,” Njoku said. “We keep progressing every week. I feel like we’re not even scratching the surface of what we could be. And I mean that as a complete offense. We have so much talent on the offense that we haven’t utilized yet. So I think there’s so much more we can do.”

Having attended Tight End University the past several years with Kelce, Kittle and the other premier tight ends in the NFL, Njoku, rewarded in the offseason with a blockbuster deal that pays him almost $14 million a year for fifth in the NFL, can imagine the possibilities now that he has Watson delivering him the ball.

The Browns went on to win that game 23-17 to improve to 4-7 and keep their playoff hopes flickering. If not for that Njoku catch, they would’ve been essentially been out of contention by then, in Week 12. “The mindset of the hurdle,” Njoku said. “I guess it’s just spark of the moment. If I see a defender thinking like he’s running. Obviously when I have the ball in my hand, I’m running towards one way and I have people running towards me. So I guess just like the way I see someone coming at me, I decide what I do.”
