The Richardson-reared director recently finished working on a trilogy of ‘Halloween’ sequels. ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ comes out Oct. 6.David Gordon Green’scq eyes widened, and he eagerly reached for his phone when asked about his experience as an extra in Oliver Stone’s 1989 filmgrew up in Richardson and was an eighth-grader at West Junior High School when he answered a casting call for the movie.
“I played sports like the other kids, but while they were focused on watching the big game, I was out to see what the next movie would be,” he said.Your experience as an extra and seeing Stone direct seemed to kickstart your interest in filmmaking. That was one of the things I was excited about was being able to bring a Baptist perspective into our story outside of just the priests in the white collar and the Roman Rite. I’d read a book about a Baptist exorcist, Pentecostal ritual and voodoo culture. So, you’re bringing all these conversations, as well as our lead character who’s a non-believer, and then the medical conversations that come into play when you’re exploring the ailments of these young girls.
