David Crosby, legendary Crosby, Stills & Nash and Byrds member, dead at 81
David Crosby, an influential singer-songwriter and a founding member of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, has died. He was 81.
His wife broke the news “great sadness,” saying the acclaimed musician passed after suffering from an illness for a “long” time,“It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David Crosby has passed away,” she said in the statement. “He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django.”
“Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us,” she added. “His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. We will miss him dearly.”Crosby was the subject of a documentary about his storied life, titled “David Crosby: Remember My Name,”“It’s about how I became who I am,” he said at the time. “And it isn’t all pretty.
