If Starmer can make the Labour Party electable again, he can also change the country
Like so many people, I was completely wrong-footed by Rishi Sunak’s decision to call a general election on 4 July.at the end of Downing Street is playing very loud music and the music is “Things Can Only Get Better”, Labour’s theme tune from 1997?”
Other than the date of the general election, another thing I’ve been wrong about in politics over the last few years is the astonishing feat pulled off by Keir Starmer in making the Labour Party electable again. Yes, we needed to restore confidence and pride and we need to do so because this present Conservative government has undermined Britain’s standing in the world, and the energy, drive and talent of the British people.
