Daniel Soukup II passed for 337 yards and two TDs and added another 151 yards and four TDs rushing to lead the Wolves over Canyon Lake last week.

Davenport senior quarterback Daniel Soukup II put on a prolific performance against Canyon Lake last week, helping the Wolves lock up an outright District 14-4A-I title and earning him Express-News Athlete of the Week honors in the process. Soukup passed for 337 yards and two touchdowns and added another 151 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries as Davenport cruised to a 61-42 road win.

It was another strong performance in an outstanding season for Soukup, who is in his first season as the starting quarterback for the young program after Triston Hamlin led Davenport to the Class 4A Division I state semifinals last season. The performance earned Soukup the offensive player of the week Monday, and Wolves fans cast nearly 200 votes in the weekly poll to make him the Athlete of the Week over fellow finalists Mya Allen of Reagan and Marshall Kenner of Steele.
