So, the social media team trolled Chuck E. Cheese after a viral story about the children’s amusement center’s famed mouse getting handcuffed and arrested - in front of children - for credit card fraud.
reports Jermell Jones, who was in full costume, was arrested on three felonies on July 3 after a customer reported a stolen credit card the month prior. While a spokesman said the intent was to walk Jones, or Chuck E., outside before arresting him, that’s not what happened. According to police reports, one officer, while grabbing the employee, referred said, “Chuck E, come with me, Chuck E.” “But when they approached him, he immediately tenses up and resists, and so at this point they make the decision to put him in handcuffs, keeping in mind the safety of not only the customers, but the suspect, as well as the officers themselves,” police spokesperson Alicia HillHill called it “unfortunate” the subject of the investigation was in costume. The investigation began when a woman called police to report that someone was using her child support Visa debit card, which she hadn’t seen since a visit Chuck E.
