The durian farmers in Davao City are at the height of preparations for the first-ever Philippine Asia Durian Summit slated on October 25-27, 2023 at SM Lanang Premier’s SMX Convention Center.
Emmanuel Belviz, president of DIADC, on Saturday said that there’s a need for the farmers and exporters to be updated and upgraded in the said industry. “You have to do recording sa inputs, recording sa outputs para makita ng buyer I am a GAP-certified durian farm, and here are my inputs. Ang hindrance sa farmers nasanay sila for how many years na parang wala lang. Tinutulungan ng Department of Agriculture ang farmers na gumawa ng mga requirements para sa GAP kasi we need to upgrade not only on the farming side but also on the export side,” he said.
