Starting now until Labor Day, parking fees on any of Dauphin Island’s three public beaches is only $10 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

“I’m blown away,” said Smith. “I was worried about everybody using the bathroom before we get down here like we used to used to be one little bitty road came back in here. And when we was driving up, I saw the portalets and I said “they got portalets” and then we park and we find out — air conditioned bathrooms down here. I mean, this is awesome.”“I mean I can park in places. $10 for all day. Hey, you can’t beat that with a stick. I’m gonna tell everybody about this.

If you’re in need of overnight parking from 7 p.m. until 8 a.m. — it’s free! “And then it’ll probably drop back to $5, which is what it was prior to the season,” said Mayor Jeff Collier.“We didn’t really change the fee of it,” Mayor Collier explains. “We just changed the manner of which we’re collecting.”“$10 a day for a day’s beach visit is not a bad deal — we think.”

Residents and property owners with Town issued decals will continue to park for free. If you don’t have a decal yet, you can get one at Town Hall for just five dollars. Non-residents and property owners can take advantage of these decals, which cost $150 for them. They can be purchased from the beach ambassadors at each beach or directly from Town Hall.Grand jury adds defendant to Baldwin murder-for-hire indictment
