Dauphin County Commissioners and county election officials show off their preparedness for the 2022 election day on Nov. 8th in Harrisburg, Pa., Oct. 20, 2022.

Dauphin County officials ready for election dayDauphin County Commissioners Mike Pries, George Hartwick, III and Chad Saylor held a press conference with election officials at the county elections office in Harrisburg, Pa., to show off the county’s preparedness for next month’s election.

Increased state elections money, in the form of $45 million in grant funding, has allowed for more training of personnel and more equipment, such as e-polling books. The county had 10 but added 50 more for this election cycle. The e-polling books allow for faster check-in times at polling places and can even direct a voter to their correct polling place in case it has changed.

Election officials have already sent out 26,000 mail-in ballots requested by registered voters and have already received 16,000 back. By law, those mail-in ballots cannot be opened or counted until after 7 a.m. on election day.
