An Elizabethville man shot a feral cat multiple times with an air rifle, according to state police who filed charges on Tuesday.
Alex Martin Yates, 31, is charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals and misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and neglect of animals, state police said. The wounded cat was found in the 500 block of State Street, Upper Paxton Township, around 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 28, police said. The cat had been shot and was taken for treatment at the Dauphin County Animal Hospital.Investigators connected the shooting to Yates, and determined that he shot the cat using a .177 caliber air rifle multiple times “with the intent to harm the animal,” police said.
Yates was arrested Tuesday and released on his own recognizance and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 13,
