The Heinz Funeral Home in Illinois is under investigation for providing the wrong ashes to families.
Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said cases trace back to early 2020, and they’ve reconnected the correct set of ashes to some families.
Allmon said families told him they would ask Heinz for a loved one's ashes but would experience delays.to pick up her father’s ashes, instead of having to wait. “Which was the first time that something had happened that I would normally just call my dad and say, ‘Dad, can you come help me?'" Zillion recalled.
