Dricus du Plessis will soon aim to defend his middleweight title against Nigerian Israel Adesanya. Here is when the fight will take place.
Since that bout, Du Plessis has recovered from injury, and has now been preparing to face Adesanya at UFC 305, which will take place in Perth, Australia.
“Looks like someone wants another beating in Aus…” he wrote on Instagram when confirming the fight earlier this year. “I’m in, I also wouldn’t want to fight the king of Africa on home soil. Manifestations working good for you AGAIN!” “Let’s make UFC Africa, let’s make that happen,” Du Plessis commented when speaking on teammate Cameron Saaiman’s podcast. “That is what I would love, in an ideal situation, fighting Israel Adesanya on South African soil. Hosting that event and making history for Africa, for the UFC, for myself and for him… that’s his heritage, he was born in Africa.
