Labour will not be prosecuted over leaking of personal details, the UK data watchdog tells the BBC.

The Labour Party will not face prosecution over the leaking of a document containing personal details, the data watchdog has told the BBC.

It contained private email and WhatsApp messages between party staff which dated from the Jeremy Corbyn era.Labour launched an inquiry into the leak and the wider culture in the party, which culminated in theThe party also referred the leak to the Information Commissioner's Office , which investigates data breaches.

The ICO's decision not to take action against the party has no direct bearing on this case, which is expected to go to court early next year.
