Get insights from an expert in data center architecture about the challenges and opportunities of AI-driven data center growth.

In our latest episode of Lexicon , we sat down with Benjamin Lee, a professor at Penn Engineering and an expert in data center architecture, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of AI-driven data center growth. Professor Lee sheds light on how the U.S. balances rapid tech development with sustainability goals, from natural gas to federal land to regulatory hurdles to community pushback.

“Natural gas is cleaner than oil and coal and relatively abundant in the U.S. It could serve as a bridging energy source, but we must carefully manage methane leaks during extraction and transportation because of its higher global warming potential,” Lee told us.This makes complete sense, as natural gas has a proven track record as a stable, on-demand energy source. Such qualities make it an ideal backup for other intermittent alternatives like renewables, especially wind and solar.
