Data center dilemma: Great Cleveland Partnership makes case for growth

In the past year the debate all over the nation has been whether communities should ban, or welcome massive data centers.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -In the past year the debate all over the nation has been whether communities should ban, or welcome massive data centers. These massive centers are filled with computer processors large enough to handle the increasing demand for computing power and AI.

Ohio currently ranks 6th in the country for the number of data centers already operational, under construction, and announced with 250. Late last month, some on the Cleveland City Council discussed the idea of temporarily blocking any an all data centers until the city can come up with a policy on how to regulate the buildings which can be massive, potentially noisy, and a large drain on the electric grid.
