It was Houston’s ninth win, matching the team single-season record set in 2018. With the victory, the Dash moved to the top of the NWSL standings with 33 points. Forward Ebony Salmon scored in the 25th minute to give Houston a 1-0 lead. Nichelle Prince, who played in the midfield against the Red Stars, ran onto a long outlet from goalkeeper Jane Campbell down the right flank before finding Salmon, who was running into the box. Salmon took two touches before striking the ball into the far corner of the net for Houston’s first goal of the night.
The goal was Salmon’s ninth of the season, moving her within two of the Dash’s all-time single-season record of 11 set by Kealia Watt in 2016.
